What’s the deal? Well, the parent company of UFC has recently filed 22 trademark applications for “Fight Island” and “UFC Fight Island.” These trademarks have n registered for various classes of goods and services, and in particular, they are intended to be used to name various mixed martial arts events, and above all, to brand various merchandise, including, among other things, towels, jewelry, mugs, and clothing. The recent legal steps taken by the organization certainly indicate that UFC aims to create a place that will be used not only as a training facility but, above all, as a destination where the biggest MMA events in the world will take place. Interestingly, these plans are also related to the Covid-19 pandemic, as due to the high infection rate in the USA, borders have n closed, which in turn prevents fighters from traveling to America. As a result, the organization is unable to organize international events with the participation of the best fighters from around the world on its own territory. The registration of trademarks closely related to the new project aims to prepare a full infrastructure for the launch of the mysterious island related to mixed martial arts. This primarily concerns the possibility of maximizing the marketing use of the new project, which could turn into a huge success for the entire organization.
Interestingly, news is coming from the UFC that the island is already being prepared, which includes, among other things, the construction of the necessary infrastructure. To this day, the location of the island is unknown, but unofficial information suggests that it may be one of the islands that make up the Fiji archipelago, where, in turn, a very small number of coronavirus infections are recorded. Will the plan succeed? Time will tell, but given the very remote location of the potential “Fight Island,” both the journey and training could be very tiring for the athletes. Regardless, the unconventional project itself has the potential to bring unprecedented success to the organization.
