Given the frequency of innovations in the television industry, it can be assumed that the Korean conglomerate is preparing something special, as on October 22, 2018, Samsung Electronics filed an application with the European Union Intellectual Property Office to register a new trademark, “The Window,” which translates to “window” in English.
What does this indicate? It is true that this could be a simple move by Samsung for the future, but considering the innovations in this industry introduced by the Korean giant, the previous “The Frame” series, and, above all, the fact that the CES 2019 trade fair will take place in 2 months, where the latest and most innovative devices will be unveiled, it can be assumed that we will then see a new product from the television series, as it was for this category that the trademark was registered. It is said that Samsung would finally like to present transparent screen technology, which would be similar in nature to windows.
It is worth noting that this is not a concept from science fiction, as the Korean manufacturer first presented such screens in 2011 at the CeBIT trade fair, and the time that has passed has certainly allowed for the improvement of this technology. Other manufacturers are also working on similar solutions, for example, Panasonic published a prototype of a transparent television in 2016. Samsung’s latest televisions with Ambient mode, which imitate the effect of transparency by displaying, for example, a wall pattern, also speak in favor of Samsung. In any case, a new solution from Samsung can be expected in two months.
