It was the statements about the close cooperation between the Krakow-based company and Ford that led to a conflict in the automotive industry. As Andrzej Gołębiowski from Ford Polska Sp. z o.o. stated, both companies did not conclude any agreement regarding cooperation on the new Warszawa model, and KHM Motor Poland does not have the right to use Ford’s registered trademarks. According to Ford’s official statement, “In connection with the information appearing in the media regarding the alleged cooperation between KHM Motor Poland and Ford of Europe in the Warszawa M20 GT project, we would like to inform you that no agreement has n signed regarding any cooperation between Ford and the aforementioned company. The use of the Ford logo on the KHM Motor Poland website with information about such cooperation is unfounded and illegal.” From the above, it directly follows that, although the Polish company used the body and components of the Ford Mustang GT in the production of the Warszawa M20 GT, it did not reach an agreement with the creators of that model on this matter
In response to Ford’s statement, KHM Motor Poland officially apologized and admitted to the unauthorized placement of Ford’s trademark on its website. According to the official statement, “It was not our intention in any way to commercially exploit the value of your trademark, nor to use it in any way to obtain material benefits from its placement. The Ford logo was used out of respect and gratitude for the brand, whose parts were used in the Warszawa M20 GT car prototype.” Furthermore, the Krakow-based company stated that the presented prototype used parts manufactured for Ford, with consent obtained from Peter Sauer & Sohn KG Dieburg on November 18, 2016. In addition, the Polish company admitted that it had not actually signed any cooperation agreement with Ford or its representative, and the published information resulted from the lack of an official statement from KHM Motor Poland.
The situation clearly indicates that the lack of verification of certain information before the official presentation of a new product can lead not so much to a conflict between competing companies, but in the worst case, also to a halt in production. Currently, there is no information available about the next steps being taken by the Ford Group.
